Bournemouth Pier, The first pier in Bournemouth consisted of a short wooden jetty that was completed in 1856.A little wooden jetty was built in 1855. In 1861 a proper wooden pier was built. In 1880 it was replaced by an iron pier. The town of Bournemouth has a population of approx 165,000 according to the 2001 Census, making it the largest settlement in Dorset. founded by Lewis Tregonwell in 1810 and grew steadily and became a proper town in 1870, when the railway came.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Arcade Bournemouth shopping centre is close to the town centre, Bournemouth Arcade was built between 1866 and 1872. The Arcade which was originally called the Gervis Arcade. Bookshops such as Waterstones are convenient to browse and have a relaxing place to enjoy a coffee in their coffee shop. C'est chic! It is another good place to go if the weather turns sour.
