Entry fee

Entry costs £12.99 per person. This covers the cost of organising and running your event on the day, which means that the sponsorship money your raise will go directly towards our work into the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer. Unfortunately this fee is a non-refundable and non-transferable.


Sponsored by Fitness First, and with a Half Marathon, a 10k and the Active Communities 5k Fun Run and a 1k Childrens Fun Run, this year’s Bay Run promises to be the biggest yet!

Runners in the 10k and Half Marathon will be chip timed, ensuring accurate timing for all participants, actual times will be available (time from crossing start line to finish line).

Races take place between 9:30am and 11:45am.

1. What route does the 10k/Half Marathon take?

The maps are avaliable to download THEY ARE SITUATED AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.

2. Where does the race start?

Pier Approach, Bournemouth, BH2 5AA. Just follow signs to Bournemouth Pier.

3. Is there anywhere to change and/or leave my baggage?

There is limited changing available on buses situated in the Pier Approach area, however it is recommended that where possible, runners should arrive in their race clothing.

Baggage storage is also available in the bus. You need to ensure that you have your race number with you when depositing and collecting your baggage. Please note that liability will not be accepted for any loss or damage to any items left on the bus.

4. When will I receive my race number?

Race Packs will be sent no later than two week prior to race date. This will include race information and your number.

Registration will close on Tuesday 24th March 2009.

5. How will my time be recorded?

All ½ marathon and 10k entrants will be chip timed. Your chip will be attached to your running shoe as per the instructions in your race pack.

Please note that the 5k is classed as a fun run – this event will not be timed.

6. When can I get my results?

7. I’m no longer able to run – can I transfer my entry to a friend?

No, we are sorry but your friend must complete an entry form and pay the relevant entry fee.

8. My training’s not going to plan – can I run the 10k/5k instead of the ½ marathon/10k?

Please note that this is subject to availability. If either the 10k or the 5k are full to capacity we will not be able to offer you this service.

If there is availability you will need to inform us of this change in writing prior to the race date. If you have already received your race number you must return this to us in the office so that another number can be issued.

You CANNOT use the number already issued to you. You will need to be reissued with a 10k/5k number.

Please note that we do not offer refunds.

9. Where can I park?

There are a number of public car parks serving the Pier Approach area. Use of these Car Parks will be at the normally displayed prices.

10. Can I enter on the day?

There are no entries on the day for both the ½ marathon and the 10k.

There will be an Active Communities registration desk in Pier Approach where runners can register for both the 5k and 1k fun runs on the morning of the race.

Old Harry Rocks Dorset is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with a fantastic variety of sandy beaches, towering cliffs and unspoilt countryside. Old Harry Rocks are chalk stacks located directly east of Studland and to the north of Swanage in Dorset. Nearby and to the north are the larger towns of Poole and Bournemouth. The rocks are part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site of which they form the eastern end. It is also believed that the rocks were once connected to The Needles on the Isle of Wight. Boat trip excursions are available from Bournemouth pier in the summertime.
