Bathing water quality in Bournemouth is of the highest compliance, Out of 406 bathing waters, 397 passed EC tests. Coastal and inland bathing waters have improved significantly over the last four years.

Bournemouth piers
Cars are allowed between the piers but in July and August there is a fee. Disabled groups can arrange in advance to drop off and pick up in advance with the beach office. (Tel 01202 451781)
The land trains run from Alum Chine to Bournemouth Pier and Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe daily from April to September (weekends only weather permitting in the winter). People in wheelchairs travel free.

Folding chairs can be carried on all trains but “Max 1” and “SU 2” can carry passengers in their wheelchairs.
 Trains stop at the lifts at East Cliff, West Cliff and Fisherman’s Walk . They are also exempt from the toll at Bournemouth Pier.

Pavilion Bournemouth Theatres:
There are a limited number of spaces for wheelchairs for safety reasons. It is advisable to inform the theatre if you require wheelchair space to avoid delays on the night. Most of the venues have a hearing induction loop although some shows make it difficult to operate the system so it is advisable to check with the theatre before booking.
The Pavilion Theatre has 8 disabled parking spaces and a ramp at the entrance.
 

Cinemas:
The ABC is licensed to take 1 wheelchair in screen 3 and 2 wheelchairs in screen 2. Prior notice is advisable so as not to be disappointed. (Tel 0870 9007694).There is a system for the hard of hearing where you need to pick up the hearing device to take in with you to the screen of your choice at the box office. Access for 1 in screens 4and 5. Screen 6 can take 2 wheelchairs and screen 6 has 3 spaces but there is a small step..

Pavilion Bournemouth There is an easily accessible toilet in the foyer and another near the ballroom (Access via a lift where staff will offer assistance.) Pier Theatre has access via a ramp at the side of the building. The theatre is on one level and a new accessible toilet is adjacent to the theatre.
BIC has access to all areas apart from the balconies in the Windsor and Tregonwell Hall.There are toilets on every floor and the lift is found behind the Reception desk. The usher will offer assistance or advice if required

There are a whole host of different shows staged here from classical music to rock and plays.

Bournemouth’s famous beach huts are available to hire all year-round. Sensory Community Garden. The garden is located in Knyveton Gardens Keeble Rd and it will stimulate the 5 senses. There are plants to touch, smell, bright colours for the partially sighted and a pond with running water. A sensory sculpture is at the entrance and in the café there are Braille scripts with the garden’s history. There are wide paths, raised flower beds and high seats. Central Pleasure Gardens The helium filled balloon can take wheelchairs to give you a birds eye view of Bournemouth. There are wheelchair toilets close by.

Monkey world. Located about 25 miles from Bournemouth Monkey World is home to the largest group of chimps outside of Africa. The monkeys live in spacious enclosures amongst natural woodlands. Waterfront Museum. Located in the High Street Poole the museum displays the history of Poole from Roman occupation to smugglers. Poole Museum has reopened after 20 months of major redevelopment involving £750,000 of Heritage Lottery Funding and local fundraising. This England's first natural World Heritage Site - it is known as The Jurassic Coast. It covers 95 miles of truly stunning coastline from East Devon to Dorset, with rocks recording 185 million years of the Earth's history. World Heritage Sites are places of ‘outstanding universal value' selected by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation).

Old Harry Rocks Dorset is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with a fantastic variety of sandy beaches, towering cliffs and unspoilt countryside. Old Harry Rocks are chalk stacks located directly east of Studland and to the north of Swanage in Dorset. Nearby and to the north are the larger towns of Poole and Bournemouth. The rocks are part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site of which they form the eastern end. It is also believed that the rocks were once connected to The Needles on the Isle of Wight. Boat trip excursions are available from Bournemouth pier in the summertime.
